We don’t really appreciate the vital job our boiler does until it develops a fault or breaks down.

And when that happens, all you want to do is get it fixed as quickly as possible.

A boiler service is a good way to reduce the chances of unexpected boiler breakdowns damaging your finances.

All of Blue Emergency Cover‘s Boiler cover plans offer an annual boiler service, to make sure everything is running smoothly.

If you have a new appliance the terms of your manufacturer’s warranty will most probably depend on an annual boiler service being carried out also.

Miss out on a check-up and your warranty could become invalid rendering costly repairs.

What to expect during a boiler service?

When the time comes for your annual service, you’ll be asked to arrange a convenient time for the service to be carried out.

You can do this through the Blue Emergency Cover customer portal on the website.

An annual service should always be carried out by a Gas Safe Engineer, and you’re well within your rights to ask to see some ID from the engineer that carries out the checks and tests.

During the inspection, the engineer should carry out all of the following:

  • A visual check of the boiler internally and externally.
  • Checking for any water leaks or signs of damage.
  • Electrical safety checks as per TB118a.
  • Check all case seals for damage and signs of corrosion.
  • Checking for any signs of Leakage of products of combustion.
  • Testing the flue and flue integrity.
  • Checking the gas settings and adjusting if necessary.
  • Cleaning and inspecting the gas burner.
  • Checking the condensate trap for blockages and debris.
  • Checking the gas rate of the boiler to check it is burning the correct amount of fuel gas.
  • Inspecting and testing the safety controls.
  • Checking the ignition system.
  • Inspecting the heat exchanger, fans and other key components.
  • A flue gas analysis of the boiler. Checking and setting the correct CO/CO2 settings.
  • Checking that the ventilation & flue are in accordance with current Gas Safety Regulations.

Blue Emergency Cover engineers leave checklists for all customers to ensure they don’t miss out any essential checks.

When the annual boiler service is completed, your Gas Safe Engineer will be in a position to advise you about the state of your boiler and whether there are steps you can take to ensure the boiler stays working properly until the next inspection in a year’s time.

We offer an annual service to Blue Emergency Cover customers from just £10 per Month with our plans, so if you need affordable boiler cover, our plans offer immediate protection, which can help avoid any unexpected repair costs.
